How to stop those spambots on my JSMF forum?
«

I am using the latest version of SMF v1.1.11 on my Joomla 1.0.15 website, integrated by JSMF bridge.
I noticed that from now and then, some spambots can intrude my forum and post annoying ads on each subforum.
Of course I had enabled CAPTCHA protection on SMF registration page. But it seems that these spambots can bypass the CAPTCHA image, because they did not have a valid Joomla user account, their username only exists on SMF forum.
I don't know how to stop them?
Could you please give me some help?
Thanks.

Two things come to mind:
Is it possible to register in Joomla while registration in SMF is turned off
Is the forum accessible via the bridge if you block the root folder of SMF with a .htaccess
